program and enjoy the trip! Beyond the Limits is an
adventure education program that utilizes the experiential learning process,
providing team and personal growth experiences for schools, clubs, religious,
corporate and non-profit groups.
Owned and operated by the
Wicomico County Board of Education, it's location rests in Salisbury, Maryland
on the beautiful eastern shore. The challenge course is located in
Mardela Springs, Maryland, approximately 12 miles from Salisbury.
Collaboration exists between the Wicomico Board of Education and Salisbury
University. The most commonly
used facilitation style at Beyond the Limits is debriefing the experience (Gass
and Priest, 1987) in which a discussion analyzing group and individual
actions takes place after the challenge course activity. This
discussion is group-centered, not leader-centered, affording the opportunity
for group members to learn from reflection. 
Beyond the Limits goals are to develop
students' interpersonal and intrapersonal skills through adventure
experiences on the challenge ropes course, indoors at Salisbury University
and inside the classroom. |
