WHAT IS ON THE GED TEST? The GED Test covers five subject areas: Math, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts: Reading, and Language Arts: Writing Skills. HOW WILL I KNOW IF I AM READY TO PASS THE GED TEST? The best predictor of success on the GED Test is a solidly passing score on the GED Official Practice Test (OPT.) We give a FREE OPT one Saturday a month at the Adult Learning Center. For those who cannot attend the Saturday testing, we try to schedule an OPT on weekday mornings. Call, come by during office hours, or email djoneswa@wcboe.org to make an appointment to take the OPT.
HOW MAY I APPLY TO TAKE THE GED TEST? You may get an application for the GED Test at the Adult Learning Center. We strongly recommend that you take a GED Official Practice Test (OPT) before applying for the actual GED Test because a solidly passing score on the OPT is the best predictor of success on the actual GED Test. Your application, along with a $45 application fee, must be mailed to the Maryland State Department of Education, the agency that schedules all GED Testing in Maryland. For those 18 and younger, additional documentation is required. Stop by the Adult Learning Center to get an application and an informational brochure.
