SchoolMessenger Calls Jan. 12 from Delmar Elementary Principal to School Families
Delmar Elementary stayed in touch with its school families today as it dealt with the automated bomb threat.
Here is Principal Judy Nicholson's third SchoolMessenger call to parents, after dismissal Tuesday, Jan. 12:
"As you were made aware earlier today, Delmar Elementary School received an automated call with a bomb threat this morning. The call was very similar to the one received at a number of area schools on Monday. Delmar Elementary School immediately notified and took the direction of trained law enforcement and school safety personnel. As students and staff remained in the safe in place status, an investigation and thorough search was conducted. Nothing was found in the search and the school was able to resume normal operations.
We want to thank the Wicomico County Sherriff’s Department and Wicomico County Public Schools for their assistance this morning and for arranging to have a School Resource Officer in our building for the remainder of the day. We are also appreciative of our staff and faculty for the manner in which they handled the situation at hand. As a result, all ended on a calm note today.
After students were dismissed, administration debriefed with staff and faculty regarding the events of the day. Delmar Elementary School will always work with the Wicomico County Sherriff’s Department, the Wicomico County Board of Education, and Wicomico County Public Schools as it is our highest priority in providing a safe learning environment for our students and staff. We thank each and every one of you for your understanding, concern, and support.
Have a safe evening.
Another SchoolMessenger call was made around lunchtime to update school families:

Deputy Farmer is very familiar with our school and is remaining vigilant. Our students and staff are on normal schedule.
