Posted on 01/31/2018

10 p.m. SchoolMessenger call to Fruitland schools' families and staff:

Good evening, this is an update message from the Communications Office of Wicomico County Public Schools for families and staff of Fruitland Intermediate, Fruitland Primary and Bennett Middle. We are pleased to tell you that this evening the City of Fruitland was able to restore water service. Based on that, we are anticipating that our three Fruitland schools will be open on time Thursday morning. However, our maintenance and operations staff members are currently on site at the three schools tonight to make sure all systems will be operational for the opening of school. If there are any operational issues, we will notify families immediately.

Please note that the city has announced drinking water restrictions in the short term, including a recommendation that water be boiled before drinking. We are making arrangements to provide safe drinking water for our students. You may also wish to send your student to school with bottled water. Thank you, we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding in dealing with the challenges of today’s water problems.
