High School Orchestra Students Present Free Concerts for Children Oct. 22
WCPS Orchestra Students Team Up with Salisbury University Music Faculty for Free Concerts for Students, Community

The high school orchestra students of Wicomico County Public Schools will present Concerts for Children at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. The orchestra students of James M. Bennett High School and Wicomico High School will perform at 9:30 a.m. in the James M Bennett Auditorium. Orchestra students of Parkside High School will present a similar concert at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Parkside Auditorium. The public is welcome to attend this free arts event by contacting sburton@wcboe.org to sign up prior to the concerts.

The concert will feature transcriptions of symphonic works, as well as music from several Disney movies. Narration will inform the audience about the instruments of the orchestra. Dr. Sachi Murasugi, professor of violin and viola at Salisbury University, and Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, professor of cello and bass at Salisbury University, will be guest soloists for the event. More than 750 students are scheduled to attend the performances.
