Please come out and support students at these spring concerts, parades and programs, and learn for yourself why Wicomico County Public Schools has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation for seven of the last 10 years.

 

Beaver Run Elementary

The Beaver Run Elementary School Spring Music Program took place on March 23.

 

Charles H. Chipman Elementary

All grades at Charles H. Chipman Elementary School will present their spring program on Monday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m. The performance will take place on the stage in the cafeteria of Salisbury Middle School. Admission is free. 410-677-5814

 

Delmar Elementary

Delmar Elementary is not putting on a spring program.

 

East Salisbury Elementary

The East Salisbury Elementary Strings and Music Program presented a Spring Concert on April 11.  The 4th and 5th grade string orchestra performed some traditional favorites and fiddle tunes. Select 4th and 5th grade music students sang a variety of songs. Fifth-grade guitar students will present their first song on guitars, which were purchased through a generous grant by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. 6 p.m. in the gymnasium. Fruitland Primary

Fruitland Primary does not have a spring program scheduled.

 

Fruitland Intermediate

Fruitland Intermediate School’s Spring Concert will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 25 James M. Bennett Auditorium. Free. 410-677-5805

 

Glen Avenue Elementary

The Glen Avenue Elementary 4th and 5th grade strings and 5th grade band will perform a spring concert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19 at the school. Free. 410-677-5806

 

North Salisbury Elementary

The 3rd grade of North Salisbury Elementary will present “Every Day Is Earth Day” by Teresa Jennings on Monday, May 9, at 6 p.m., in the multi-purpose room. The students will demonstrate their knowledge of our impact on the Earth and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling our trash. The North Salisbury Elementary Spring Concert with 4th and 5th grade string students will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, May 16, in the school multipurpose room.  Free. 410-677-5807

 

The North Salisbury Elementary Band Concert, “Directions,” will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 24. The concert will include songs from the North, South, East, and West and “Best Song Ever” by the group One Direction. 410-677-5807 

 

Northwestern Elementary

Northwestern Elementary School's "Evening with the Arts" will be held on Wednesday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. The evening with feature a recorder performance by 4th grade students, the school-wide digital art show, and a musical performance entitled "Attitude is Everything" by students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Pemberton Elementary

Pemberton Elementary School showcases student talent in “The Finale” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 in the Parkside High School Auditorium. The 64 Pemberton performers in grades 2-5 auditioned with their talents, just like on shows like “American Idol.” The blend of talent will electrify the Parkside stage, so you don’t want to miss this show! Pemberton Elementary 4th and 5th Grade band and string students will present a Spring Concert on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The band will play songs from the North, South, East, and West including “Key Lime Pie.”  Free. 410-677-5809

 

Pinehurst Elementary

Pinehurst Elementary 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Choir, 5th grade recorder club, and the 4th and 5th grade String and Band students will present a Spring Concert at 6 p.m. Monday, May 16 in the Pinehurst gym. Free. 410-677-5810

 

Prince Street Elementary

Prince Street Elementary’s “An Evening with the Arts” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 16. String students in grades 4 and 5, beginning band, Panther Dancers, and the Intermediate Chorus (It’s a Musical Planet) will be performing.  In addition, student artwork will be displayed throughout the school.  410-677-5813

 

West Salisbury Elementary

West Salisbury Elementary’s Kindergarten Spring Program “Pajama Party” will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, April 25 at the school. Everyone is invited. Free. 410-677-5816

 

Westside Primary

Westside Primary School held its Spring Program, “Pajama Party,” on Monday, April 11. Students in Grade 1 performed in the Westside Primary Cafeteria. Free. 410-677-5117

 

Westside Intermediate

Westside Intermediate will hold an Ocean Arts Festival on Friday, May 13 beginning at 9:30 am at Westside Intermediate School. This is a full day of activities starting with an arts parade through the town. Several state delegates and senators are expected to join the parade. At 2:10 p.m., students and staff will gather on the playground for the dedication of the school’s new mural, created with recycled and upcycled materials. This will be followed by a pep rally in the cafeteria. 410-677-5118

 

The Westside Intermediate Band and Strings spring concert will be at the school at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 16. The band will play songs from the North, South, East, and West including “Cowboy Cattle Drive.” Free. 410-677-5118

 

Willards Elementary

The 1st grade students of Willards Elementary will present an arts-integrated performance of “Animals Down Under”, a focus on musical instruments and animals indigenous to Australia, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday,May 4 in the Willards Elementary cafetorium. Wonderful Willards Elementary will hold its annual arts parade on Wednesday, June 1 (rain date Monday June 6). Students will walk through the town of Willards to celebrate Australia and the Arts. Spectators are asked to line the streets of Willards and cheer the students on. The parade will begin around 9 a.m. and end around 10:15 a.m. Upon returning to the school the students will participate in Field Day activities featuring popular sports in Australia. 410-677-5819

 

WELC (Wicomico Early Learning Center)

The Wicomico Early Learning Center’s spring concert will take place Monday, May 9 at 6 p.m. in the East Salisbury Elementary gym. The program will showcase the singing and dancing talents of all classes at the Wicomico Early Learning Center. Admission is free. 410-677-5900

 

Pittsville Elementary and Middle

The Pittsville Middle and Wicomico Middle school orchestras will present a Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in the Wicomico Middle auditorium. Free. 410-677-5145

 

The Pittsville Middle School Band concert will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in the Parkside High School Auditorium. This concert will be a musical exploration of “Space: The Final Frontier.” Free. 410-677-5811

 

A Spring Concert for Pittsville Elementary 4th and 5th grade orchestra and band students will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 in the Pittsville School cafetorium. Free. 410-677-5811

 

The Pittsville Elementary and Middle School Choirs will be in concert on stage at Parkside High School at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26.  The elementary chorus will present a variety of folk songs, including selections such as Polly Wolly Doodle, She’ll Be Comin’ ‘Round the Mountain, and Erie Canal.  Middle school singers will focus on African American spirituals and pop music inspired by our rich heritage of African American music. Admission is free. 410-677-5811

 

Bennett Middle

Bennett Middle School Orchestra students will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in the Bennett Middle School cafeteria. Admission is free. 410-677-5140

 

The Bennett Middle School Concert Band and Symphonic Band will hold their Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. in the Bennett Middle School cafeteria. The concert music will be a variety of full band selections, as well as small ensembles and soloists. Admission is $2 person with children under school age free. 410-677-5140

 

Please join the Bennett Middle School 6th and 7th Grade Choir at the spring program entitled "Why We Sing" on Tuesday, May 17. The fun begins at 7 p.m. in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. The Wicomico Middle and Pittsville Middle school orchestras will present a Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in the Wicomico Middle auditorium. Free. 410-677-5145

 

The Wicomico Middle School 7th and 8th grade band concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 in the school auditorium. The concert will feature the National Anthem, “America/God Bless America,” “Air and Alleluia”, an adaptation from Mozart for band, “Beethoven for Band,”  “Plaza de Toros,” and two different “Star Wars” themed pieces. Admission is free. 410-677-5145

 

The Wicomico Middle Choir 6th grade choir and 6th grade band will present their combined Spring Concert at 6:30 pm on Monday, May 16 in the school auditorium. Mardela Middle and High

The Spring Concert for Mardela Middle and High School middle school Intermediate Band and State Solo & Ensemble Festival qualifiers took place April 18 in the MMHS cafetorium. Free. 410-677-5142

 

The Mardela Middle and High School Spring Concert featuring Middle School Festival Band, High School Symphonic Band, and Warrior Marching Band & Bandfront will take place Monday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in the Mardela cafetorium. James M. Bennett High

The James M. Bennett Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Douglas L. Miles, will present the annual Spring Band Concert on Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. The concert will feature serious band literature from Brian Balmages, Andrew Boysen, Eric Osterling and Naohiro Iwai. The Symphonic Band will also perform Samuel Hazo’s musical interpretation of Georgia O’Keeffe’s oil painting titled: “Blue and Green Music”.  Our lighter selections will include music from the Beatles and a medley of hits by Glenn Miller. The James M. Bennett High Intermediate and Concert Choirs will present a spring program on “100 Years of Broadway” Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. This will be a significant day in the life of the Music Department at James M. Bennett High School. On that day the Intermediate and Concert Choirs will present their annual Spring concert, the culmination of a year of classwork. The concert will also mark the end of an era, as it will be the last concert for Choral Director C. Benton Reavis, who will retire at the end of the school year after 43 years as JMB’s choir teacher and 47 years as a teacher. Students and colleagues from throughout his almost half-century in music education are invited to be in the audience that night as Mr. Reavis steps to the podium for one last spring concert and invites alumni to join in the beloved Alma Mater to close out the night. It’s going to be a great program, with music from more than 35 different Broadway musicals from the early 1900s to 2015. Various sections of the program will feature specific composers like Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Steven Sondheim. The Parkside Choral Department will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the high school with the presentation of “Welcome to the ‘70s: A 40th Anniversary Musical Celebration” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19 in the Parkside Auditorium. The Intermediate and Concert Choirs will sing selections from the decade Parkside High School opened. The celebration will include a variety of songs such as “Three Little Birds,” “September,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” and “Lean On Me.” There will be lots of dancing and even some audience participation with the song “YMCA”. Wicomico High

The Wicomico High School Spring Band Concert will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 in the Wicomico High School Auditorium.  Our celebration will feature the WiHi Jazz, Intermediate, and Symphonic Bands. Admission is $1 and proceeds will go to the WiHi Music Scholarship Fund. 410-677-5146

 

The Wicomico High School Choral Music Department will present a Spring Concert entitled "Give Our Regards to Broadway" at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12 in the Wicomico High School Auditorium. The concert will feature music from many of the best shows ever to appear on Broadway, performed by soloists and the Concert and Intermediate Choirs under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Baer. The music department will also honor the seniors and members of select ensembles in the region and state. The WiHi PTA will collect an admission fee of $3 to help fund a PTA Music Scholarship. Visual and Performing Arts Program (VPA)

The Wicomico County Visual and Performing Arts Program music students will present a Spring Recital at 7 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Bethesda United Methodist Church on 406 N. Division St. in Salisbury.  Nine music students will perform vocal and instrumental music from the Baroque period through the modern era. The recital is free and open to the public.  There will be a reception following the concert. 410-677-5146
