Muffins for Mom, Donuts for Dad, Granola for Grandparents

Muffins for Mom, Donuts for Dad, Granola for Grandparents 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Beaver Run Elementary
More than 225 people are expected to attend Beaver Run Elementary School's reading breakfast from 9-9:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7. This family outreach event, designed to build family connections with the school while encouraging reading for students, is billed as "Donuts for Dads, Muffins for Moms, Granola for Grandparents." The event will highlight the importance of reading as the foundation for achievement in school and beyond and at the same time help the school build parent involvement, said Bill Curtis, Beaver Run principal.
Kindergarten students will entertain guests and students with a "Days of the Week" song, and a teacher from each grade level team will talk about what's expected of students in each grade. The school's media specialist will talk about the Reading Counts program. Kim Johnson, professional development coach, will encourage the visiting adults to return to the school as guest readers.
