Live From the Sun - An Educator Workshop
Parkside High School
1015 Beaglin Park Dr.
Salisbury, MD 21804
Saturday, April 1, 2017
9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m
Learn about the Sun, its patterns and motions in the sky using Parkside’s Planetarium. Create models that explain the Sun’s patterns and the reasons for seasons, and model the scale of the Solar System. View the Sun safely through portable solar telescopes and find out how to borrow one for your classroom. Hear about NASA’s active solar space missions.
This workshop will provide demonstrations of classroom activities, take-home materials from NASA, lunch and a $100 stipend for each participating educator.
Live from the Sun is presented by the Maryland Science Center in partnership with Wicomico County Public Schools/Parkside High School Planetarium and made possible through a grant from NASA.
Teachers from across Delmarva who teach science in elementary through high school are invited to participate.
To register, contact Jim O’Leary at the Maryland Science Center at firstname.lastname@example.org and provide your name, school, school district, grade(s) and subject(s) taught, and email address. The workshop is open to teachers at all grade levels.
Other questions may be directed to Dr. Brian Raygor, WCPS Supervisor of Science.
