CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT

Capital Improvement Program

The WCBOE Capital Improvement Program consists of two integral components, the Educational Facilities Master Plan (EFMP) and the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Both of which have been revised for 2009. The CIP includes the proposed fiscal year request plus an additional five years. The current FY2011 Capital Improvement request (Top 20 projects) includes approximately 19 million in County funding and 14.6 million in State funding. Take a look at the Major Project Schedule for additional information regarding the time frame (five years out) for the major capital projects. The top priority projects include funding for the continued construction of the James M. Bennett High School, the design and construction of the new Bennett Middle School, the HVAC renovations to Northwestern Elementary and various HVAC, roofing replacements, parking, security and ADA projects, for a variety of schools. These priorities are established by the "Future Plans" portion of the EFMP.

General Requests - "All Schools" These requests are of a more general nature and are applicable to all schools if they have not already been addressed with a recent systemic replacement, renovation or other applicable project. You can view this request here in "pdf" format. (pdf 26kb)

Typical Project Timeline Our capital requests for a typical project occur over the course of several fiscal years, with approved funding becoming available from the State at the start of the fiscal year. Approved funding usually becomes available from the county in January of the fiscal year, six months following the state. You can view a typical project timeline here. (pdf 26kb)
