Effective January 1, 2014, CareFirst has selected CVS Caremark as the company’s new Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM).
New ID cards. Employees will receive new ID cards in December. They will be effective starting 1/1/2014.
New card procedure. Members need to present their new ID card when they arrive at the pharmacy for the first time in 2014.
Pharmacy member services phone number remains the same: (800) 241-3371
No change in CareFirst’s network of retail pharmacies.
No change to existing CareFirst formulary
Members using Walgreen mail pharmacy services will be transitioned to CVS Caremark’s mail pharmacy service.
Mail order customer service phone number is the same as the Pharmacy Customer Service number: (800) 241-3371
Impacted members will receive communication prior to January 1, 2014 to coordinate the transition of their prescription(s) and instructions on how to re-register with the CVS Caremark mail order pharmacy. Walgreen’s is working with CVS Caremark to transition valid prescriptions with remaining refills.
Open refills will transfer to CVS Caremark.
For privacy reasons, credit card/banking information is not transferrable for mail order users. Members must provide this directly to CVS Caremark in order to receive refills.
