The goal of Technology Infrastructure Services is to provide an effective and efficient technology platform that supports the Wicomico County Public Schools (WCPS) technology strategic plan and provides the framework to support instruction and increase student achievement. Infrastructure services includes Network Operations, Infrastructure Systems, Architecture and Design.
Network Operations (NetOps)
Network Operations includes the monitoring, management, operations and security of WCPS data centers, wired and wireless networks, network load balancing, incident responses, and disaster recovery planning and management. Network security, firewall, Unified Access Control, and Web filtering are also part of the service profile.
Infrastructure Systems provides server management for all WCPS core business and student needs. Infrastructure Systems provides system administration and support for Windows and Linux servers, as well as virtualized servers. IS also provides management of the associated supporting infrastructure, such as storage, backups, data integrity, DFS/replication, patch management, and failover. In addition, platform based services, such as user level authentication, Windows based Active Directory, and cloud based services such as Exchange Online, Lync, and SharePoint are also part of the service profile.
Architecture and Design
Architecture and Design assist in design, implementation, and enhancement of all enterprise level, strategic IT initiatives. A&D provides leadership and guidance to all project teams within WCPS, as well as advice and recommends best practices to other cross functional project teams within technology. A&D includes research, capacity planning, e-rate planning, and project management.
