Here is a list of open houses, back-to-school nights and other key events early in the school year.Beaver Run Elementary
Thursday, Aug. 21, 2-6 p.m. Food will be served in the court area. Tables will be set up to help families learn more about PBIS, Volunteer Program, New Transitions and PTA. Door prizes. Earlier that day, from 10 a.m.-noon, watch for the staff of Beaver Run Elementary as they visit the neighborhoods served by the school. Parkside High
Wednesday, Aug. 20. PTA Back-to-School Night, doors open 6 p.m., orientation 6:30 p.m., walk-through for parents and students, information tables on the athletic booster club, PTA membership. After a brief PTA meeting, the parents will follow their child's schedule and meet the teachers. The teachers will share a brief outline of course objectives and expectations for the school year. If all information sheets that were included in the opening newsletter have been filled out and handed in, students may pick up their schedules on this night. A letter will be sent home around Aug. 15 to the parents of all students. Each envelope will have the student's first period homeroom in the corner of the mailing label identifying where to report the first day of school to get the full class schedule, but families that take advantage of the PTA Back-to-School Night Aug. 20 and bring in all the required student documents will then receive their student's schedule early.

Wicomico Adult Learning Center
GED information sessions will be held on Aug. 11 and 12 from 9-10 a.m. and from 6-7 p.m. To register for one of the information sessions, call the center at 410-749-3217 between 9am-12pm, Monday through Friday. The Adult Learning Center also has ESL (English as a Second Language) registration scheduled for Aug. 14, 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m.; no need to call ahead, simply come in that day. These registration events are for fall term enrollment, with the fall term beginning Sept. 2.
